14 The edge of the night

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (1)

The Night's Edge is what you get when you smash together all the other awesome swords. It requires all four of theiconic pre-hardmode swords(the Muramasa, the fiery greatsword, the blade of grass, and either the Bane of Light or the Bloodslayer) to craft. Head to a Demon or Crimson Altar and you've got the only sword worth having right after the Wall of Flesh.

How to craft the Night's Edge:

  • Muramasa- Found in the locked golden chests in the dungeon. His best modifier is Legendary, although you may only have one or two in your world.
  • Fiery Greatsword- This sword is crafted from 20 Hellstone Ingots. It's a slow sword, but has long range and lots of damage from the pre-hardmode swords.
  • blade of grass- The Blade of Grass made from Jungle Spores and Spikes has a chance to inflict the Poisoning Debuff on enemies.
  • Curse of Light / Blood Slayer- Made from either Demonite or Crimtane depending on which evil biome you have on your world.

13 The enchanted sword

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (2)

This sword is rare, but not as rare as you think. The enchanted sword is found in underground chambers. A pool of water, falling vines, and a sword stuck in a stone. It's a magical scene, but not every chamber has an actual sword in it.

And.Some of the swords are fake. If you're lucky enough to get the Enchanted Sword, it's a top-tier weapon (with nifty projectiles) that can carry you through pre-Hardmode terrariums.

Always watch out for tunnels leading from the surface into a chamber. Throwing grenades or using a weapon that can shoot light projectiles through blocks is a good way to find the enchanted sword.

12 The Beekeeper

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (3)

bees! bees! The Bee Keeper is a sworddropped by the queen bee somewhere deep in the jungle. Find their hive and then defeat them and you have a pretty high chance of getting the Bee Warden.

This is a unique sword and holds its own against the Wall of Flesh. Anything you hit with the Bee Keeper will be attacked by a swarm of bees. Terrifying but effective. we should also mentionLeg seamsas one of the most effective ways to defeat the Wall of Flesh.

11 The Cascade

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (4)

The cascade isthe strongest pre-hardmode yoyowith a damage value of 27 for its base variant. You are looking for the divine or demonic modifier for ultimate yoyo stats.

This yo-yo isDrops in the dungeon once Skeletron has been defeated. Grab it before Hardmode because it will later be replaced by the Hel-Fire Yoyo. Cascade works well in hardmode, especially if you have onedecent yoyo build setup.

10 Malaise & Artery

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (5)

These two yoyos arebest for the early gamebefore you even thought of tackling the dungeon to try and find a cascade. These two yoyos are made by Demonite or Crimtane bars depending on which corrupted area you have in your Terraria world.

The malaise and artery are fun until you find a better yoyo later in the game. We would not recommend these items outside of the Wall of Flesh sincethey just don't do enough damage to keep you in hardmode.

9 The Dark Lance Spear

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (6)

Away from swords and yo-yos, this is the Dark Lance. Found inshadow chestsIn the underworld is the Dark Lancethe strongest pre-hardmode spear. Spears aren't particularly powerful or very popular, but the Dark Lance has at least a use or two.

This weapon is very useful forfarming a boss like the Eater of Worldsbecause it deals penetrating damage to every wormy segment of its body. The Dark Lance is also good at clearing out large hordes of enemies while keeping the player at a safe distance.

8 The flame range

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (7)

Boomerangs are often overlooked by Terraria players. Poor boomerangs.Flamarang is a powerful weapon that can come in handy when transitioning into Hardmode. It is the perfect complement to astrong ranged build for the early game.

It's the upgraded version of the enchanted boomerang, so it deals more damage and also causes the On Fire! Debuff on hit enemies. You only need ten Hellstone Bars to level up the regular Boomerang, so well worth checking out.

7 The Sunfury

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (8)

Heavy, chunky, and powerful, the Sunfury is part of the mace weapon class that received a buff in 1.4. Now a player can constantly swing the mace around instead of waiting for it to come back at them.It just makes Sunfury a more versatile weapon.

It used to be an often-overlooked weapon, but now it's a prime choice for transitioning into hardmode. The Sunfury is a fairly common drop in Shadow Chests down in the Underworld.

6 The Space Cannon

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (9)

Despite the damage nerfs in Terraria 1.4,A space gun and a full set of meteor armor is still one of the most satisfying combos in the game. Meteor Armor speeds up your mana regeneration and the Space Gun eats the mana. Put them together and you have a weapon that can constantly fire and completely shred enemies. The space gun is oncrucial component in a powerful magical build.

What takes the Space Gun to another level is its ability to pierce at least one enemy with its shots, making it powerful against hostile areas like the dungeon as well as bosses with multiple moving parts. Even if you don't plan to build specifically around this weapon, it can be a great backup when you're out of mana and need to keep your distance.

5 water bolt

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (10)

Ah, thewater bolt. Prior to the 1.4 update, it was possible to get into an early Water Bolt tome by looking at some of the bookshelves in the surface dungeon. This made pretty much all pre-hardmode bosses killable in minutes with the right arena setup.

As Journey's End rolled around, the developers decided that an early Water Bolt was just completely brokenThey spawned them deeper underground in the dungeon. Despite this, the Water Bolt is still a powerful pre-Hardmode weapon and perfect for farming bosses for materials.

4 Muramasa

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (11)

While the Muramasa doesn't have the power of its contemporaries in the sword class, its auto-swinging ability makes it a much safer alternative. While it's a bit weaker, its damage isn't to be scoffed at: as long as its large hitbox stays activated by your repeated swings, you'll be protected from any opponent that isn't resistant to recoil.

Additionally, the Muramasa is one of the easier blades in the game since it can be found in the dungeon after Skeletron. Since it's a necessary component to crafting Night's Edge, it's worth keeping this blade for its usefulness and potential to grow.

3 Phoenix Blaster

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (12)

If you want to play at a distance with an ammo-based weapon, the Pheonix Blaster is your best option when it comes to guns. While this pistol upgrade is less powerful per shot than the Musket or Star Cannon, it fires at more than three times the speed of those two weapons.

The Phoenix Blaster is so powerful that it's useful well into Hardmode, as it's capable of outperforming a decent number of other ranged weapons unlocked after the Wall of Flesh fight. The only real weaknesses here are the lack of ammo efficiency and low recoil against enemies.

2 The bee's knees

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (13)

If the simplicity and cheapness of arrows puts you in the class of bowarms, then the Bee's Knees is the perfect weapon for you. Unlike some other bows found before hardmode, you don't need a particularly fancy arrow to make this thing shine; Each wooden arrow shot from it turns into a compact line of bees that can split up to deal individual damage.

The Bee's Knees is a fantastic weapon for both solo and group encounters, as its shots are unaffected by gravity and hit the closest targets. Even if you miss an enemy, hitting the ground or a wall with your shot allows the bees to burst out and find their way to any enemy.

1 Molten Rage

Terraria: Best Pre-Hardmode Weapons (14)

The Molten Fury is by far the strongest standard bow in pre-Hardmode and has the highest damage available of all current iterations of the game. As if that wasn't enough, this weapon also applies the burning effect to any wooden arrows shot from its bowstring.

Because other arrows can still be used with this bow without losing their pre-made effects, you can take full advantage of the high damage it deals even if you don't want to use its gimmick. Plus, you can still use wooden arrows for backup ammo, with the added bonus of setting your enemies on fire.
